Advantages of Access Control Systems

Access Control

Access control security systems are designed to restrict physical entry to only users with authorization. Many organizations, governmental and private, have started adopting access control security systems for physical entry into their facilities. Whether it is a simple non intelligent access control system like a punching in a password, or advanced biometric systems that scan and permit entry very specifically, there are many advantages to employing these security systems:

1.   Reduced Requirement for Manpower

Access control devices do not grant access to anyone without the appropriate authorization. Thus, manually filtering visitors and users is not necessary. There is no need to post a security guard at the different entrances to conduct the filtering process.

2.   Allows Access and Restriction to Multiple Entries and Exits

In a facility with multiple entries and exits between different departments, it is not possible to employ physical security systems at each post. Having access control devices at all these points is sufficient to ensure that at each level there are access control and security systems active.

3.   Internal Levels of Restriction and Access

Access control systems can be programmed to grant access to different personnel at different levels. Thus, within the authorized users also, a hierarchy can be created to allow and disallow access to certain individuals. This way, within the organization, you can create levels of access with an access control system.

4.   Time Based Control for Security Systems

Access control security systems can be configured to grant access at different times, and to include or remove users from the list of those who have access. Thus, there is no need to physically change the locks every time somebody needs to be denied access. An access control system will suffice.

5.   Keeping Check of Punch-in and Punch-out Time

In organizations, access control devices can also serve the purpose of maintaining a record of the clock in and out time of employees.

6.   Biometric Systems

Enhanced security systems like biometric access control security systems like fingerprint tracking and retina scanners provide enhanced security solutions. This way, the user does not have to carry a card, or memorize a code that could fall into the wrong hands. The users themselves have to be present in order to gain access.

Access control security systems are becoming important for more efficient and reliable security. Consult experts to work out which security systems best suit your needs.
